Missouri natives are an important asset to our biological ecosystem and here are reasons why you should consider a native garden
Promote biodiversity! Support native pollinators – bee’s, birds and butterflies. Our pollinators have built a relationship with these plant species and depend on them to survive.
Native plants require less maintenance and are a natural and efficient way to manage erosion and water retention. These species are designed to survive drought and have long rooted systems which stabilize the soil and allows for greater surface area of absorption.
Native plants need less water, fertilizers and pesticides! Native plants are adapted for our soil and environment, meaning they can reap the benefits from our soil and fight off natural enemies.
Less pesticides in the environment mean our pollinator populations are healthier. More pollinators mean greater yields of plant production and provide balance for our natural communities
